There is so much that should, and probably needs, to be said about the COVID-19 pandemic that we could easily preach on this topic for a couple of months and still only scratch the surface.  Fortunately, John Piper (one of our favorite authors) recently wrote a book entitled "Coronavirus and Christ."  Audio and PDF versions are available for free online (click on the image below).  Daniel Bates (one of the leaders at Anchor Church) also preached a sermon about COVID-19 entitled "Paul's 'Secret' Weapon Against Coronavirus."  We would be glad to talk to you (at a socially acceptable distance!) if you have additional questions.

Our church service will look a little different for the foreseeable future.  In order to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and in deference to our political leaders:

Please stay home if you are sick.

i.e. If you have a fevers, chills, unexplained muscle aches, sore throat, new runny nose, new cough, new shortness of breath, new change in taste or smell, nausea / vomiting, or diarrhea.

Consider staying home if you are at high-risk for COVID-19.

According to the State of Maine, high-risk individuals include people older than 65 y.o. and people with chronic medical conditions like chronic lung disease, moderate - severe asthma, serious heart conditions, weakened immune systems, severe obesity, diabetes, chronic kidney disease requiring dialysis, and liver disease.

If you stay home, please join us via Facebook Live for Sunday worship and Zoom for our weekly Gospel Community Groups.

Also, please inform us so we can serve you well.

Households should stay 6 feet apart.

This part is hard because we love being together!  However, under the current circumstances, it is the kind and loving thing to do.  And it is still OK to greet one another cheerfully, to express love and affection for one another (while staying 6 feet apart), to encourage one another, and to pray for one another!

Wear a mask.

In compliance with Governor Mill's executive action on 11/4/2020, mask wearing is mandatory for the entire church service (including singing) for everyone 5 years old and older.  Masking is strong recommended for 2-4 year olds.  Masks are not required for children less than 2.   If you are unable to wear a mask, please join us online.

Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer regularly.

We will have hand sanitizer and baby wipes available every week.

Most importantly, keep seeking, treasuring, and proclaiming Jesus.  Coronavirus is a problem and there are challenging decisions that will need to be made on a private and public level.  However, coronavirus is not bigger than Jesus.  Jesus is still the Ruler of the Universe.  Keep your eyes on Him...because Jesus is better.

The Anchor is a missional community located in the Boothbay Region. We are a church planting church, committed to Jesus' Great Commandment and Great Commission.
